Brad Carr is considered by many to be the "Father of US Canoe Polo". He organized the first nationals, which had very fetching T-shirts. Many other players from abroad started clubs all over including:

Tim Johnson from UK-Richmond Plungers

Ezio Ambrosetti from Italy-Austin Aquabats

Paul Macey and Katherine Macey from New Zealand-UCLA Kayak Polo Club

Marty Bell from New Zealand- Mountain Kayak Polo

David Wright and others from Britain- New England Canoe Polo

These initial seeds have started to spread, but the sport is still at a very young stage in the US.
