[edit] Introduction

This club was formed by Ezio Ambrosetti, formerly from Italy, in Austin, Texas in 1997. It first appeared at the 1999 US Nationals in Georgia. They have since competed in every national championship and produced many US Team members. They are the 2005 US National Champions.

Holder of the unofficial world record for the longest sudden-death extra-time in the game of Canoe Polo: the semifinal game of the 2005 National Championship between the Austin Aquabats and the team from San Francisco ended after approximately 27 minutes of extra time. The Aquabats met the S. Francisco team again in the final, and again the game went into sudden death overtime, but this time the Aquabats took a lot less time to win, and become champions.

Playing style: Conservative "ball control" offense. Tries to outlast opponents. Typically uses a 1-3-1 Defense. Is allegedly poor on the 5-out.

[edit] Teams

The Austin Aquabats have sponsored many teams including:

Austin Aquabats-The Men's team.
