[edit] The history
Delapre Blades was sold by the Archers to Howard Farley and then he amalgamated with Mega's own brand of "Mega Custom Blades", but soon found an allergic reaction to the fine epoxy dust and had to retire. Mega found the production of blades time consuming and not profitable enough compared to boats and so sold the whole blades part of the business to Clyde's Polo Kit. Here the "Q-Dos Blades" brand was brought about as a way of distinguishing the very different process of construction from the original Delapre/Mega method.
These Blades are currently made by Clyde in his "spare time" before his day job 5 days a week. Since being promoted to Dad, Clyde is struggling to fulfill orders in a timely fashion but still strives to improve the product. Essesially, the finish of the blades are not perfect with some pitting to the surface which is a byproduct of the manucfacturing process. With further funding and more importantly time, this will be improved, but currently greater emphisis is on the reliability of the product rather than the cosmetics. Clyde is continuingly working with the fabric manufacturers to find a more suitable material weave for the manufacturing process being used.
The construction of these blades are not the lightest around. If you want light weight, then buy a Double Dutch, but if you want something which is rigid, slightly bouyant and medium weight, then this could be what you are after.
